US President Barack Obama quietly signed his name to an Executive Order on Friday, allowing the White House to control all private communications in the country in the name of national security.
President Obama released his latest Executive Order on Friday, July 6, a 2,205-word statement offered as the “Assignment of National Security and Emergency Preparedness Communications Functions.” And although the president chose not to commemorate the signing with much fanfare, the powers he provides to himself and the federal government under the latest order are among the most far-reaching yet of any of his executive decisions.
“The Federal Government must have the ability to communicate at all times and under all circumstances to carry out its most critical and time sensitive missions,” the president begins the order. “Survivable, resilient, enduring and effective communications, both domestic and international, are essential to enable the executive branch to communicate within itself and with: the legislative and judicial branches; State, local, territorial and tribal governments; private sector entities; and the public, allies and other nations.”

If you believe in liberty, the U.S. government now considers you a terror suspect
July 10, 2012
(NaturalNews) In this season of Independence, it’s important – and sad – to note how far we’ve come from our nation’s founding, where brave, insightful men laid everything on the line just a couple of centuries ago in an all-or-nothing effort to birth the greatest, most successful, free country in the history of the earth.
Today, holding dear such values as freedom and liberty will get you put on a terrorist list. Welcome to America 2012.
A new study funded by the Department of Homeland Security, using your tax dollars, describes Americans who are “suspicious of centralized federal authority” and “reverent of individual liberty” as “extreme right-wing” terrorists.
The study, titled, “Hot Spots of Terrorism and Other Crimes in the United States, 1970-2008,” was produced by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism at the University of Maryland – a group seeded with $12 million in start-up funding via DHS.
To give the authors their due, there was equal and appropriate mention in the Executive Summary about left-wing extremism as well, which they said “was concentrated in the 1970s and ethno-national/separatist terrorism was concentrated in the 1970s and 1980s.”

Black Boxes to Monitor All UK Internet and Phone Data
Tuesday, 03 July 2012

‘Internet and phone firms are preparing to install “black boxes” to monitor UK internet and phone traffic, and decode encrypted messages – including Facebook and GMail messages.
As part of the Home Office’s communications data bill, internet service providers (ISPs) and mobile phone companies will be obliged to collect communications records and keep them for a year, writes Channel 4 News Technology Producer Geoff White.
The government has insisted that the actual content of messages won’t be stored, but until now it has not been clear how communications companies will be able to separate content from “header data”, such as the sender and recipient of a message, and the date it was sent.’

NYPD Labels People ‘Professional Agitators’ for Filming Police
Monday, 02 July 2012

The New York Police Department apparently classifies individuals who choose to exercise their right to videotape police engaging in their public duties “professional agitators” as revealed by a poster inside the NYPD’s 30th Precinct.
While this is hardly surprising coming from a police department so woefully corrupt that an officer who actually attempted to do his job by exposing rampant, systematic corruption ended up being thrown in a psychiatric ward by his superiors, it is troubling nonetheless.
Let us not forget, the NYPD has also created a social media unit in order to conduct surveillance on various social media outlets, has been busted spying on innocent Muslims, using highly questionable tactics in order to arrest Occupy Wall Street activists and even been shown by a former narcotics detective to be fabricating drug charges to meet quotas.’

Now Facebook Tries to ‘Hijack’ Users’ Email Addresses by Forcing Them to Submit to Own Service
Wednesday, 27 June 2012

‘Facebook is trying to force its 900million users to switch to its own email service.
It is removing the personal email address displayed on an individual user’s profile pages and replacing it with a @facebook.com address – even if the member never uses it.
The social networking site’s email service was launched two years ago but has failed to take off, possibly because most people do not like having multiple mail accounts.’

New Surveillance Cameras Will Use Computer Eyes to Find ‘Pre crimes’ by Detecting Suspicious Behaviour and Calling for Guards
Thursday, 07 June 2012

‘A new generation of computerised ‘Big Brother’ cameras are able to spot if you are a terrorist or a criminal – before you even commit a crime.
The devices are installed in places like train stations or public buildings where they scan passers by to see if they are acting suspiciously. Using a range of in-built parameters of what is ‘normal’ the cameras then send a text message to a human guard to issue an alert – or call them.’
DNA of Thousands of Innocent People Still Being Collected by Police
Thursday, 07 June 2012
‘Privacy campaigners say the system remains “illiberal and uncertain” and accuse ministers of failing to ensure that the genetic fingerprints of those cleared of suspicion are removed from files.
Big Brother Watch also estimates it could cost forces up to £8million to sift through their records and remove DNA taken from people who were arrested but never convicted of crimes.
The warnings come despite the recent passage of the Protection of Freedoms Act, which was meant to scale down the biggest database of DNA profiles in the world, which has grown by almost 1m records since 2009.’
