Apple Has More Cash than US Government

Saturday, 30 July 2011 07:09

‘Figures from the US Treasury Department have indicated that Apple Inc. has more cash to spend than the government of the United States.

The latest report of the United States Treasury on cash and debt operations put the country’s cash balance at $73.7 billion, but Apple’s reserves are currently $76.4 billion, the state-run BBC reported on Friday.

The United States is currently spending around $200 billion more than it collects in revenue every month.’

Bombs Disguised As ‘Humanitarian’ Gifts NATO’s Paradoxical Mission in Libya

Saturday, 30 July 2011 07:18

‘NATO’s “Operation Unified Protector” is purportedly designed to protect Libyan civilians when in fact, this is merely a fig leaf to remove Gaddafi from power. Within 48 hours, the “protests” against Moammar Gaddafi turned violent and Libyan government forces were confronted with armed rebels. Civilians were never targeted by the Libyan regime to begin with. The civilian casualty rate for Misurata, for example, was less than three percent in the first two months of the conflict. This figure pales in comparison to the conflicts in Gaza or Fallujah where to this day civilians continue to suffer from the toxic legacy of depleted uranium from the brutal assault by American force and where the casualty rate exceeds those reported by the survivors of the atomic bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.’

The US-Al Qaeda Alliance: Bosnia, Kosovo and Now Libya. Washington’s On-Going Collusion with Terrorists

Saturday, 30 July 2011 07:35

‘Twice in the last two decades, significant cuts in U.S. and western military spending were foreseen: first after the fall of the Berlin Wall, and then in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis. But both times military spending soon increased, and among the factors contributing to the increase were America’s interventions in new areas: the Balkans in the 1990s, and Libya today.1 Hidden from public view in both cases was the extent to which al-Qaeda was a covert U.S. ally in both interventions, rather than its foe.

U.S. interventions in the Balkans and then Libya were presented by the compliant U.S. and allied mainstream media as humanitarian. Indeed, some Washington interventionists may have sincerely believed this. But deeper motivations – from oil to geostrategic priorities – were also at work in both instances.’

General Electric CEO Jeffrey Immelt, the Head of Obama’s Jobs Council, is Moving Jobs and Economic Infrastructure to China at a Blistering Pace

‘Jeffrey Immelt, the head of Barack Obama’s highly touted “Jobs Council”, is moving even more GE infrastructure to China. GE makes more medical-imaging machines than anyone else in the world, and now GE has announced that it “is moving the headquarters of its 115-year-old X-ray business to Beijing”. Apparently, this is all part of a “plan to invest about $2 billion across China” over the next few years. But moving core pieces of its business overseas is nothing new for GE.

Under Immelt, GE has shipped tens of thousands of good jobs out of the United States. Perhaps GE should change its slogan to “Imagination At Work (In China)”. If the very people that have been entrusted with solving the unemployment crisis are shipping jobs out of the country, what hope is there that things are going to turn around any time soon?’

‘Even as the US economy teeters on the brink of default, the federal government has handed a $72 million dollar contract to defense contractor Lockheed Martin to install radiation-firing body scanners at 300 more airports across the east and central United States, despite the availability of devices that do not rely on radiation to function.

“Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has been awarded two regional task orders totalling $72 million to help TSA integrate and deploy new passenger screening and security equipment at airports across the east and central United States,” states the press release.’

Congress Using Child Porn Bill As Trojan Horse To Spy On Everyone’s Internet

‘Goodbye, civil liberties! The government is using a bill disguised as anti-child pornography legislation to allow them to start monitoring Web-usage of everyone.

The Protecting Children from Internet Pornographers Act of 2011 (H.R. 1981) is aiming to keep the Web safe for children, but in the process it will treat any user logging on to the Internet as a potential criminal.

Bill sponsor Lamar Smith, House judiciary committee chairman and Representative from Texas, says that pedophiles have been able to avoid prosecution in the past because vital records linking them to web usage were never required to be retained. Under H.R. 1981, Internet Service Providers would have to hold onto those records for 12 months. Those records, however, won’t apply to just suspected child pornographers and pedophiles. Instead, ISPs will be doing data retention on all of their customers.’

US Accuses Iran of ‘Secret Deal’ with al-Qaeda

Saturday, 30 July 2011 09:22

‘The US Treasury Department announced sanctions on six men accused of operating the terror network.

Iran-based Ezedine Abdel Aziz Khalil, aka Yasin al-Sura, was named as a “senior al-Qaeda facilitator” who has operated from inside Iran since 2005 “under an agreement between al-Qaeda and the Iranian government”.

Khalil launders al-Qaeda money and recruits from across the Middle East through Iran and then to Pakistan “for the benefit of al-Qaeda senior leaders,” the Treasury said in a statement.’

Extreme Weather & Natural Disasters How Do We Prepare

Saturday, 30 July 2011 09:35

‘Once again, things have changed and the new rules of survival are more complex, but once these rules are incorporated and followed, they can help assure we have at least a fighting chance against whatever challenges we face. Following are some ways to prepare yourself, and your loved ones, for the coming ‘end of the world as we know it’. Because the shape of shifts to come aren’t just physical; they will affect us on every level of our being, from how we move about in the brave, new world to how we keep our consciousness at a level that empowers us and refuses to back down in the face of fear and discomfort.

There are three main types of catastrophic events we need to prepare for.’

Sunday, 31 July 2011 06:37

‘Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has said the United States pressured Italy to enter the war against Libya.

“What choice did I have considering America’s pressure… President Georgio Napolitano’s stance, and the Parliament’s decision?” the July 30 edition of the Italian daily Corriere Della Sera quoted Berlusconi as saying.NATO launched a major air campaign against the forces of the Libyan regime in mid-March under a UN mandate to “protect the Libyan population.”’
