Senate Confirms Petraeus as CIA Chief

‘The unanimous vote for the new chief of the Central Intelligence Agency on Thursday was confirmed in a 94-0 vote by the Senators, AP reported.
Petraeus replaces Leon Panetta, whose appointment as the new Defense Secretary was confirmed by the Senate last week in a 100-0 vote. Panetta succeeds Robert Gates, who is set to retire.’

‘According to media reports, the current peaceful strike across Britain is just moving to a harsh condition, as the police have begun clashing with anti-government protesters.
The Metropolitan police are once more exercising their kettling tactics to halt the industrial action, which was strongly condemned by Prime Minister David Cameron and other MPs, the Daily Telegraph reported. Hundreds of police forces are reportedly using the kettling tactics to break up the groups of protesters in Whitehall.
The protesters said that they were having a peaceful demonstration expressing their opposition to the crippling cuts imposed by the Tory-led government.’

‘A US health center says it has found new evidence which “strongly suggests” that UN peacekeeping forces from Nepal brought a deadly cholera strain to Haiti after the 2010 earthquake.
The US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says that the cholera outbreak in quake-hit Haiti originated from the Nepalese forces based near the town of Mirebalais in Centre Department, approximately 60 kilometers (37 miles) northeast of the capital Port au Prince.
The Nepalese forces were deployed as a part of the UN peacekeeping mission after a devastating earthquake killed over 200,000 Haitian people and left more than one million homeless in January 2010.’

‘Dayton police “mistook” a mentally handicapped teen-ager’s speech impediment for “disrespect,” so they Tasered, pepper-sprayed and beat him and called for backup from “upward of 20 police officers” after the boy rode his bicycle home to ask his mother for help, the boy’s mom says.
Pamela Ford says her “mentally challenged/handicapped” son Jesse Kersey, 17, was riding his bike near his Dayton home when Officer Willie Hooper stopped him and tried to talk to him.
The mom says that “Prior to the incident described below, defendant Hooper knew Jesse and was aware that Jesse was mentally challenged/handicapped and a minor child”.’

‘The CDC and NIH keep pushing the pertussis vaccine, in spite of info that it’s causing the new whooping cough epidemic that is 10 times more deadly than the old whooping cough.
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) would prefer that you remain unaware of a couple of highly significant facts about the whooping cough resurgence. It is most likely caused by the pertussis vaccine and it’s ten times more deadly than the original variety.
To top it all off, they are blaming the unvaccinated for the new more lethal strain of whooping cough, and they are pushing people even harder to be vaccinated with the same vaccine that’s almost certainly responsible for it!’

‘The government sent a message to Syrian President Bashar Assad in recent days, warning him that if he started a war with the Jewish state in order to divert attention from domestic problems, Israel will target him personally, Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Jarida reported on Tuesday.
According to the report, the personal warning was sent through Turkey following intelligence reports of unusual Syrian troop movements, including the moving of long-range ballistic missiles that could be used to attack Israel.’

‘British government officials approached nuclear companies to draw up a co-ordinated public relations strategy to play down the Fukushima nuclear accident just two days after the earthquake and tsunami in Japan and before the extent of the radiation leak was known.
Internal emails seen by the Guardian show how the business and energy departments worked closely behind the scenes with the multinational companies EDF Energy, Areva and Westinghouse to try to ensure the accident did not derail their plans for a new generation of nuclear stations in the UK.
“This has the potential to set the nuclear industry back globally,” wrote one official at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS), whose name has been redacted. “We need to ensure the anti-nuclear chaps and chapesses do not gain ground on this. We need to occupy the territory and hold it. We really need to show the safety of nuclear”.’
