Canadians to Protest Against Royal Visit

‘Around 300 fans of the separatist Quebec Resistance Network are expected to demonstrate outside City Hall when the royal couple gives a visit to the capital as part of their Canadian tour, group member Julien Gaudreau revealed.
Gaudreau claimed that the Resistance Network would “commit pacifist acts of civil disobedience” on July 3, to express their opposition against the amount of money being paid by the Canadian taxpayers for the event.
He stressed that the majority of Quebecers have not been in favor of the British Monarchy, accusing the federal government of carrying out a “propaganda campaign” to encourage positive attitudes among the Canadians right before the royal visit.’

‘On Wednesday, the Obama Justice Department issued a new memo to all U.S. Attorneys clarifying the DOJ’s position on federal prosecutions of state-sanctioned medical marijuana use. It’s not good news.
According to Deputy Attorney General James M. Cole, the new Obama DOJ policy states that only medical marijuana patients and caregivers should be left alone by federal prosecutors. But those who cultivate or distribute marijuana are fair game.’

Mobile phones cause ‘five-fold increase in brain cancer risk’
The Swedish study found large increased incidence of astrocytoma, the most common form of a malignant brain tumour type called glioma, in those who had been using mobiles for over 10 years.
Campaigners said the research, published in the International Journal of Oncology, was further evidence of the need to educate children of the potential dangers of talking on mobile phones.
Researchers from the University Hospital of Örebro and Umeå University examined the mobile and cordless phone use of more than 1,200 Swedes, who were diagnosed with malignant brain cancer between 1997 and 2003.
Of those, the 905 who were still alive were interviewed about their phone usage. For the remaining 346 who had died., researchers asked their relatives about their loved-ones’ telephone habits.
They then compared this to phone use information on almost 2,500 ‘controls’ who were either living and had no brain cancer, or had died of other causes. Each ‘case’ and each ‘control’ was matched for age, sex and social class.
It seems that in order to fight that type of cancer you need to fill your diet with:
Rosmarinic acid
Isothiocyanates
Polyphenols
Carotenoids
Hydroxycinnamic acids
Resveratrol
Thiosulphinates

‘According to media reports, the current peaceful strike across Britain is just moving to a harsh condition, as the police have begun clashing with anti-government protesters.
The Metropolitan police are once more exercising their kettling tactics to halt the industrial action, which was strongly condemned by Prime Minister David Cameron and other MPs, the Daily Telegraph reported. Hundreds of police forces are reportedly using the kettling tactics to break up the groups of protesters in Whitehall.
The protesters said that they were having a peaceful demonstration expressing their opposition to the crippling cuts imposed by the Tory-led government.’

‘A US health center says it has found new evidence which “strongly suggests” that UN peacekeeping forces from Nepal brought a deadly cholera strain to Haiti after the 2010 earthquake.
The US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says that the cholera outbreak in quake-hit Haiti originated from the Nepalese forces based near the town of Mirebalais in Centre Department, approximately 60 kilometers (37 miles) northeast of the capital Port au Prince.
The Nepalese forces were deployed as a part of the UN peacekeeping mission after a devastating earthquake killed over 200,000 Haitian people and left more than one million homeless in January 2010.’

‘Dayton police “mistook” a mentally handicapped teen-ager’s speech impediment for “disrespect,” so they Tasered, pepper-sprayed and beat him and called for backup from “upward of 20 police officers” after the boy rode his bicycle home to ask his mother for help, the boy’s mom says.
Pamela Ford says her “mentally challenged/handicapped” son Jesse Kersey, 17, was riding his bike near his Dayton home when Officer Willie Hooper stopped him and tried to talk to him.
The mom says that “Prior to the incident described below, defendant Hooper knew Jesse and was aware that Jesse was mentally challenged/handicapped and a minor child”.’

‘Health officials in the Indian state of Rajasthan are launching a new campaign to try reduce the high population growth in the area.
They are encouraging men and women to volunteer for sterilisation, and in return are offering a car and other prizes for those who come forward. Among the rewards on offer is the Indian-made Tata Nano – the world’s cheapest car.’
