At Least 48 Dead, Millions Without Power in Sandy’s Aftermath
Wednesday, 31 October 2012

‘The misery of superstorm Sandy’s devastation grew Tuesday as millions along the U.S. East Coast faced life without power or mass transit for days, and huge swaths of New York City remained eerily quiet. The U.S. death toll climbed to at least 48, many of the victims killed by falling trees, and rescue work continued.
The storm that made landfall in New Jersey on Monday evening with hurricane force cut power to more than 8.2 million across the East and put the presidential campaign on hold just one week before Election Day.
New York was among the hardest hit, with its financial heart closed for a second day. The storm caused the worst damage in the 108-year history of the city’s subway system, and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said it could be four or five days before the biggest U.S. transit system was running again.’

Turkey hits targets inside Syria after border deaths
Several Syrian troops were killed by Turkish fire, activists from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
Turkey’s border town of Akcakala was shelled, apparently by Syrian government forces, on Wednesday, killing a woman and three children.
The UN Security Council is due to meet later on Thursday to condemn Syria’s actions.
Ankara’s response marks the first time it has fired into Syria during the 18-month-long unrest there.
Turkey also asked the UN Security Council to take “necessary action” to stop Syrian “aggression”.
The request was made by Turkish envoy to the UN, Ertugrul Apakan, in a letter to the current president of the 15-member Council, Guatemalan ambassador Gert Rosenthal.
Meanwhile, Nato envoys held an urgent meeting in Brussels at the request of Turkey, who is a member of the military alliance.

Anti-Islamic Advertisements to Hit NYC
September 22, 2012

‘Anti-Islamic advertisements will go up across New York City’s subway system next week after a federal judge ruled that the city’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority could not legally refuse to host the signs on the basis of “demeaning” language.
As early as next Monday, ten NYC subway stations will showcase adverts declaring, “In any war between the civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man. Support Israel. Defeat Jihad.” The campaign was created by the American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI), an organization considered a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center watch group.’
TSA turns into thought police as man detained over t-shirt text

‘Delta Airlines, in collusion, of course, with the Transportation Security
(NaturalNews) Delta Airlines, in collusion, of course, with the Transportation Security Administration, seems to have a new division: Thought Police.
At least, that’s what Arijit Guha and his wife think after being kicked off a Delta flight out of Buffalo-Niagara for wearing a satirical t-shirt that apparently made some passengers and employees “very uncomfortable.”
Writing on his blog, Guha – who was returning home after attending his grandfather’s funeral – tells how he was treated as a terrorist for nothing more than his attire which, he explained, puts a sarcastic spin on the screening process airline passengers in the U.S. must endure.
“The story begins on Saturday, August 18,” Guha, who describes himself as a PhD at Arizona State University’s School of Sustainability, says.

‘No Fly Zone’ War for Syria: Replicating The ‘Libya Scenario’
Monday, 20 August 2012

‘This is a clear-cut intention to repeat the Libyan scenario,” Dolgov says, referring to Clinton’s recent statement on a possible introduction of a no-fly zone over Syria, something that he says is little more than a call for an armed interference in Syria’s internal affairs. The no-fly zone stipulates destroying missile defense systems and launching air strikes, and it, in fact, means an armed invasion of Syria which can only be fulfilled without being endorsed by the UN. All the more so that Russia and China several times blocked the UN Security Council resolutions which paved the way for resolving the Syrian crisis through the Libyan scenario.”

Court Forces Chemo on Eight-year-old Minnesota Girl Despite Family’s Desire to Use Alternative Medicine
Monday, 13 August 2012

‘Where once it was rare for courts of law to invade the privacy and purview of parents when it came to raising their children, in today’s America the wall between parental rights and the state’s Leviathan is increasingly being dismantled by activists disguised as public servants.
Karen Parisian of Minnetonka, Minn., told a local television station during a recent interview that her cancer-stricken eight-year-old daughter, Sarah, was having a lot of difficulties following a single cycle of chemotherapy. Besides the standard hair loss, Sarah lost weight and suffered from nausea and a sore throat. “The week that we were to start chemo she was sleeping 22 hours a day,” her mother told WCCO-TV.
Because of the chemo’s negative effects, Sarah’s family wanted her to forego further treatments. Instead, they wanted to use alternative medicine techniques because a) they know alternative medicine; and b) it was their choice to make. Or so they thought.’
