Chinese Destroyer Enters Mediterranean via Suez

‘A Chinese destroyer sailed through Egypt’s Suez Canal into the Mediterranean Sea, Egyptian daily Al-Shuruk reported on Sunday. The destroyer could be on its way to the Syrian coast, the Egyptian newspaper reported, adding that the warship is planning to hold naval maneuvers in the area.’

‘Russia has reportedly sent a naval flotilla led by destroyer-class warship Smetlivy to Syrian Mediterranean port of Tartous on a training mission. According to Russian military sources, the flotilla, including two destroyers and three amphibious landing vessels, started their mission from the Russia’s Arctic port of Severomorsk to Tartus’

‘The USS Ponce – previously slated for decommissioning – arrived at the base on Thursday, a fleet spokesman in Manama said, Reuters reported.
“Ponce’s primary mission is to support mine countermeasures operations and other missions, such as the ability to provide repair service to other deployed units,” added the spokesman, whose name was not mentioned in the report. This is the fifth US navy ship that has joined the US base in Bahrain since late June.’

Russia Sending Missile Systems to Shield Syria

‘Russia’s chief arms exporter said Friday that his company was shipping advanced defensive missile systems to Syria that could be used to shoot down airplanes or sink ships if the United States or other nations try to intervene to halt the country’s spiral of violence.
“I would like to say these mechanisms are really a good means of defense, a reliable defense against attacks from the air or sea,” Anatoly P. Isaykin, the general director of the company, Rosoboronexport, said Friday in an interview. “This is not a threat, but whoever is planning an attack should think about this.”’

Russia Warns to Counter NATO Missile System in Europe

‘Speaking at a press conference in the Russian capital on Monday, Bordyuzha said NATO’s plan to set up the missile defense system in eastern Europe would escalate tensions and damage the international security and strategic stability in Europe and across the world, IRNA reported on Wednesday.
The Russian official reiterated Moscow’s objection to the deployment of the missile defense facilities near its borders, saying the move would threaten the country’s national security. He also questioned the need for NATO and US-led military build-up in Bulgaria, Romania and the countries surrounding the Baltic Sea.’

According to a recent report by EUTimes.net, Japanese authorities have indicated that as many as 40 million Japanese people are in “extreme danger” of radiation poisoning, and many eastern cities, including Tokyo, may have to be evacuated in the next few weeks or months to avoid extreme radiation poisoning.
As we continue to report, the situation at Fukushima is dire, to say the least. Reactor 4 is on the verge of complete collapse, which would send radioactive nuclear fuel from thousands of fuel rods directly into the atmosphere. These fuel rods, after all, are already exposed to the open air, but the full release of their fuel would cause not only a regional catastrophe, but also a global nuclear holocaust.’

‘The Russian military anticipates that an attack will occur on Iran by the summer and has developed an action plan to move Russian troops through neighboring Georgia to stage in Armenia, which borders on the Islamic republic, according to informed Russian sources.
Russian Security Council head Viktor Ozerov said that Russian General Military Headquarters has prepared an action plan in the event of an attack on Iran.’
