UK Banks Abandon Eurozone over Greek Default Fears

‘Senior sources have revealed that leading banks, including Barclays and Standard Chartered, have radically reduced the amount of unsecured lending they are prepared to make available to eurozone banks, raising the prospect of a new credit crunch for the European banking system.
Standard Chartered is understood to have withdrawn tens of billions of pounds from the eurozone inter-bank lending market in recent months and cut its overall exposure by two-thirds in the past few weeks as it has become increasingly worried about the finances of other European banks.’
IMF Urges US Congress to Raise Debt Limit

‘The International Monetary Fund on Friday joined calls for the US Congress to raise the country’s debt limit, warning that failure to act would risk a major global market upheaval.
“For the United States, it is critical to immediately address the debt ceiling and launch a deficit reduction plan that includes entitlement reform and revenue-raising tax reform,” the IMF said in an update of its April forecasts issued in Sao Paulo.
The US government hit its legal borrowing limit of $14.29 trillion on May 16. The Treasury has taken extraordinary technical measures to avert a debt default, but says it will run out of maneuvering room by August 2.’
Israel Threatens to Annex West Bank if UN Recognizes Palestine

‘Uzi Landau, Israel’s Minister of National Infrastructure, said recently Israel would annex the West Bank if Palestine achieved statehood. And Israel’s foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman said this week Israel would renounce peace agreements with the Palestinians if they continue to seek state recognition at the UN. The majority of UN member states are expected to ratify Palestinian statehood this fall should a vote be held.’

Congress Wants To Make Uploading YouTube Videos A Felony With Worse Penalties Than Child Molestation

‘A new being voted on in the Senate THIS Week will make it a felony crime to post copyrighted videos on YouTube, Facebook and other sites with criminal penalties worse than the crime of child molestation – 10 years in prison!
Clearly the bill is meant to help strengthen the government’s grip on media censorship by preventing the alternative press, bloggers and independent citizen journalists from keeping a record of the lies spread by the government propaganda machine.’

And in Greece, the people know how generations of investments by the taxpayers are being turned over to vampire capitalists who have the full backing of the International Monetary Fund, European Commission, and the European Central Bank.
The European and global bankers have demanded that the Greek government sell off entirely or assume a minority stake in a number of state enterprises and utilities.’
Gaddafi’s Son Offers Elections

‘Libyan ruler Muammar Gaddafi’s son, Seif al-Islam, has called for internationally supervised elections as a way to end the conflict in the North African nation. In an interview with Italian Corriere della Sera newspaper in the capital Tripoli on Thursday, Seif al-Islam said, “Elections is the only painless way to exit from the impasse in Libya,” AFP reported.
“We could hold them within three months. At most by the end of the year. And the guarantee of transparency could be the presence of international observers,” the 38-year-old Seif al-Islam said.’
