Medical Marijuana Bills Advance in New England

Saturday, 24 March 2012 07:33

‘Medical marijuana bills are moving in New England. On Wednesday, a Connecticut joint committee approved a bill there, and on Thursday, a New Hampshire Senate committee approved one there.

In Connecticut, the Joint Committee on the Judiciary voted 35-8 to approve House Bill 5389, which would create a system for licensing producers and distributors. The bill would also allow patients or their primary caregivers to possess an amount reasonably necessary for a one-month supply. What is “reasonably necessary” would be determined by the Department of Consumer Protection after the bill becomes law…’

Juicing medical marijuana the latest trend in amazing cures

January 11, 2012 1 comment

(NaturalNews) There have been a few articles written about the multitude of environmentally sustainable industrial applications of hemp. There have been perhaps many more written about the medical applications of cannabis. Now there is a formerly skeptical California doctor who has found the optimal method of using marijuana for health.Unfortunately, the DEA, an arm of the U.S. Justice Department, has made sure marijuana remains as a Class I drug under federal law. This classification means that a drug can be easily abused without acceptable safety even under medical supervision and basically has no medicinal merit.

The DEA declared this despite the fact that 926 medical research studies on non-psychoactive cannabidiol (CBD) and other cannabinoids recorded in PubMed on September 22, 2011 were mostly positive with their pharmacological findings. And another government agency, The Department of Health and Human Services has a U.S. research patent on CBD from 2003.

This is an excellent governmental example of government bureaucracy double think: It’s a dangerous drug that’s useless as medicine and we’re researching it as a medicine. The question is for whom? The Health and Human Services research is conducted by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), which is currently researching CBD’s potential for curing cancer.

They are getting positive results also. In addition to eliminating pain and anxiety, CBD seems to make cancer cells die. Many already know this. But it appears that an arrangement is underway to synthesize and patent a CBD formula for big profits. Dr. Alan Frankel, MD explains the slight difference between the THC and CBD molecules in this three minute video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQc4iJedmfc).

The unusual new approach for healing with THC/CBD hemp

The current methods of taking in medical marijuana include: Smoking, vaporizing, ingesting edibles, and reducing THC hemp into a vial of concentrated hemp oil. They all have healing qualities, but the concentrated hemp oil that Rick Simpson discovered seems to have been the most efficacious form of medical marijuana, at least up to now (http://www.naturalnews.com/027756_cancer_cure_Big_Pharma.html).Now it appears that Dr. William Courtney, MD, has discovered the best way to take in CBDs and other beneficial cannabinoids without the THC becoming psychoactive even though it’s still in the plant: Eating or juicing the whole raw marijuana plant.

Dr. Courtney explains that heating marijuana destroys enzymes and excites the THC’s psychoactive effects. But if ingested raw the CBD takes over, and dramatic healing activity occurs without the high.

Dr. Courtney met a very ill young lady who had moved into California to take advantage of that state’s medical marijuana freedom. After getting limited results from smoking or vaporizing pot and eating marijuana cooked edibles, she got involved with Dr. Courtney and was cured completely in a few weeks.

The method of cannabis ingestion she used mostly was juicing the whole plant. The leaves can be eaten as salad also. The branches are too fibrous for direct consumption or juicing. The young lady’s testimony and Dr. Courtney’s explanations can be viewed here (http://healthmaven.blogspot.com/2012/01/power-of-raw-cannabis.html).

The only obstacle is legality. The federal government is booting out state rights and harassing medical marijuana outlets and plant nurseries. Growing marijuana in sufficient quantity for juicing is impractical under current law (http://www.naturalnews.com/034502_medical_marijuana_states_Obama.html).

So Dr. Courtney is on a mission to obtain a United Nations consensus for cannabis as a vegetable. The raw plants eaten or juiced don’t get anyone high as CBDs overwhelm THCs.

Dr. Courtney considers the marijuana plant’s cannabinoid content so healthy eaten or juiced raw, that it would be the most disease preventing and curative food on the planet.

Denied: DEA Refuses to Reclassify Marijuana, Claims it’s as Dangerous as Heroin

July 25, 2011 1 comment

Monday, 25 July 2011 08:20

‘The US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) has finally acknowledged a nine-year-old petition filed by The Coalition for Rescheduling Cannabis to reclassify marijuana as a schedule III, IV, or V drug, rather than its current, and more-serious, schedule I classification.

The acknowledgment, however, was an official denial of the petition based on claims that there are no studies to prove the medicinal value of marijuana, and that the plant is basically as unsafe as heroin.’

Nova Scotia Marijuana “Cancer Cure” Grower Rick Simpson

July 13, 2011 1 comment

AMHERST – Just because some “idiotic law” says he has to won’t stop Rickey Simpson from treating his patients suffering from illnesses such as cancer with cannabis oil. “People have proven to me once again they have total lack of common sense. There’s something wrong with them,” Simpson said outside the courtroom yesterday after a jury found him guilty to one count each of possession of less than 30 grams of cannabis marijuana, possession of less than three kilograms of tetrahydrocannabinol for the purpose of trafficking and unlawful production of cannabis marijuana.
“I thought the jury would see this for what it is and that they would welcome this medicine.” When discussing an adjournment for sentencing, Simpson told Justice Felix Cacchione to put him in jail that day. “It may be better to lock me up right now. As soon as I get home I’m going to treat my patients. I’m going to grow that plant until the day I die, so I might as well be put in jail today. I can’t stop in the middle of (treatment). People’s lives are at stake here.”

In response, Justice Cacchione told Simpson that when a guilty verdict is found, bail is most often times revoked. He did, however, tell Simpson he wasn’t going to revoke his bail. “You have complied with all your bail terms, so for that reason, I am not going to,” said Justice Cacchione, adding that Simpson has until 4pm Wednesday to visit the parole board office to set up a time for a pre-sentence report.

AdvertisementThe Crown’s office went by way of summary conviction to the first charge and indictment by the second two. Simpson could be facing a fine as a sentence to the simple possession charge. The trafficking charge could carry a maximum sentence of five years in prison, while the maximum sentence of unlawful production is seven years. Crown attorney Monica McQueen didn’t have much a reaction to the verdict, and couldn’t speculate on the sentencing recommendation the Crown would be submitting to the courts.

Simpson’s sentencing has been adjourned for a pre-sentence report upon Justice Cacchione’s request, who also wants to see the crown’s position on sentencing. Simpson will return to court for sentencing at 12pm on November 30, 2007, his 58th birthday.

Nova Scotia Marijuana “Cancer Cure” Court Case Turns Into Constitutional Concern

Tom McCoag, The Chronicle Herald
September 14, 2007

Amherst, Nova Scotia – A Maccan-area man who says marijuana cures cancer admitted Thursday he grew marijuana on his property, turned it into an oil and distributed the oil free of charge to people fighting a variety of diseases. However, Ricky Logan Simpson, 57, told the jury hearing his Nova Scotia Supreme Court trial on three drug charges that he should not be considered a criminal because the laws forbidding the possession, growing and distribution of marijuana are unconstitutional.

Mr. Simpson faces charges of possessing less than 30 grams of marijuana, possessing less than three kilograms of cannabis resin for the purpose of trafficking and unlawfully producing marijuana. The charges were laid following an Aug. 3, 2005, raid on his Little Forks Road property that netted 1,190 plants with a street value of between $400,000 and $800,000.

Rick Simpson leaves court”What am I doing in this court, and what right does the RCMP have to terrorize the public with a law that does not exist?” Mr. Simpson, who is representing himself, told the jury during his testimony. He read his entire testimony from an 11-page document.

He explained he first began using marijuana to treat post-concussion syndrome after prescription drugs failed. The marijuana “did more for me than all of the pills prescribed to me by my doctor,” he said.

A subsequent brush with skin cancer that he cured with hemp oil, and the curing effects it had on dozens of people who used his product, along with different scientific publications, convinced him that marijuana was a “miracle, cure-all drug,” he added.

He criticized his doctor for failing to get him a licence to possess and grow medicinal marijuana, saying the physician refused to even discuss the medicinal value of marijuana.

Mr. Simpson testified that he had not hidden his efforts to help people with his hemp oil. He said that over a four-year period he brought “the miracle cure of marijuana” to the attention of the police, the medical community, two different federal ministers of health, local politicians and the media.

All of them ignored him, he said. He was particularly miffed at the Canadian Cancer Society, which ignored his request to evaluate his cure for cancer. “The cancer society runs from the cure to cancer; they’re not running to cure cancer,” he said. And greedy pharmaceutical companies and physicians don’t want this cheap medication getting into the hands of people because it would hurt their bottom line, he said.

The trial is scheduled to continue Monday when the Crown presents rebuttal evidence. It is expected the jury will begin deciding Mr. Simpson’s fate next Tuesday.

U.S. Decrees That Marijuana Has No Accepted Medical Use

Sunday, 10 July 2011 10:54

‘Marijuana has been approved by California, many other states and the nation’s capital to treat a range of illnesses, but in a decision announced Friday the federal government ruled that it has no accepted medical use and should remain classified as a highly dangerous drug like heroin.

The decision comes almost nine years after medical marijuana supporters asked the government to reclassify cannabis to take into account a growing body of worldwide research that shows its effectiveness in treating certain diseases, such as glaucoma and multiple sclerosis.’

Obama DOJ Leaves Medical Marijuana Patients Sick and Suffering

Sunday, 03 July 2011 09:37

‘On Wednesday, the Obama Justice Department issued a new memo to all U.S. Attorneys clarifying the DOJ’s position on federal prosecutions of state-sanctioned medical marijuana use. It’s not good news.

According to Deputy Attorney General James M. Cole, the new Obama DOJ policy states that only medical marijuana patients and caregivers should be left alone by federal prosecutors. But those who cultivate or distribute marijuana are fair game.’
