‘South African President Jacob Zuma has said that NATO is taking advantage of UN Resolution 1973 to implement a plot to effect regime change in Libya.
Zuma has visited Libya twice since March on behalf of the African Union (AU) to attempt to find a political solution to the crisis in the North African country. The South African president said NATO attacks have undermined the AU’s efforts to resolve the crisis diplomatically.’
“We strongly believe that the resolution is being abused for regime change, political assassinations and foreign military occupation,” AFP quoted Zuma as saying in a speech to parliament on Tuesday.’

Gold, Oil, Africa and Why the West Wants Gadhafi Dead
Monday, 13 June 2011 07:53

‘The war raging in Libya since February is getting progressively worse as NATO forces engage in regime change and worse, an objective to kill Muammar Gadhafi to eradicate his vision of a United Africa with a single currency backed by gold.

The Media Distract the Public from War
Monday, 13 June 2011 08:04

‘If one is to judge by the tone of the television commentators, America must be deep in a crisis. Long stretches of cable time are devoted to the breaking news. Each detail is presented as more grave and consequential for the republic than the last. The fate of the country surely hangs in the balance.
What is it? War? Fiscal crisis? Mass unemployment? A double-dip recession? No. A congressman was caught sending lewd photographs of himself to women over the Internet.
This is what now consumes so much of the news media’s attention. This is what outranks in news value continuing occupations of foreign countries, three overt and an undetermined number of covert wars, and a looming fiscal crisis. As America’s imperial elite seeks to hold on to and extend its global power in defiance of economic reality, the spectacle of a congressman, Anthony Weiner of New York, appparently sharing pictures of his private parts with female strangers has taken center stage.’

US data: 90% of Captured ‘Taliban’ Were Civilians

In December 2010, commander of US and NATO forces in Afghanistan General David Petraeus claimed in an interview that a total of 4,100 Taliban rank and file had been captured and 2,000 others had been killed in the space of six months.
The claim followed another set of misleading figures that had been released three months earlier and which said US Special Operations Forces had captured 1,355 rank and file Taliban militants, killed 1,031, while having killed or captured 365 middle or high-ranking Taliban members through May and July of the same year. The figures were apparently released for media publicity and intended to restore US reputation over its losses in Afghanistan, IPS reported.’
