‘Eurozone on Verge of Economic Collapse’

Tuesday, 28 June 2011 05:31

‘Billionaire George Soros says Europe’s debt crisis has brought the eurozone to the brink of an “economic collapse” and inevitably some of its members will leave the union.

“There’s no arrangement for any countries leaving the euro, which in current circumstances is probably inevitable,” Soros said at a panel discussion in Vienna, Austria on Sunday, Bloomberg reported. He added, “We are on the verge of an economic collapse which starts, let’s say, in Greece, but it could easily spread. The financial system remains extremely vulnerable.”‘

Obama Tries to Raise US Debt Ceiling

Tuesday, 28 June 2011 06:03

‘The White House said on Monday that the president is confident that both Democrats and Republicans could make compromises to lift the debt limit to avoid a default, Reuters reported.

White House spokesman Jay Carney said, “The president told me that everyone in the room believes a significant deal remains possible.” He made the remarks after Obama held a discussion with Sen. Harry Reid, the leader of the Democrats in the Senate.

Later in the day, Obama held a meeting with Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell but neither made any comments on the outcome.’

Palestinians to Seek Recognition at UN

Monday, 27 June 2011 07:05

‘I say that if negotiations have failed we will go to the United Nations for membership,” Abbas was quoted by AFP as saying on Sunday.

Speaking at a meeting of the Palestine Liberation Organization and his Fatah party, Abbas said it was the only option since “there have been no new incentives to return to negotiations.”

Due to Israel’s renewed settlement building activities, the Palestinian Authority (PA) broke off direct talks with Tel Aviv in September. The PA said Israel had to freeze the construction and expansion of Jewish settler units or the talks could not continue.’

Never mind Greece – Look at BRITAIN’S Deficit

Saturday, 25 June 2011 07:46

‘Anyone feeling smug about the Greek crisis should take a quick dekko at our own statistics.

Spending in April and May was 4.1 per cent higher than during the equivalent period in 2010. Government borrowing was £27.4 billion, up from £25.9 billion the previous year. This additional debt comes despite a series of tax rises: VAT, fuel duty, income tax and National Insurance have all gone up.

In other words, despite everything we keep reading about “the cuts”, spending and borrowing are both higher now than they were under Gordon Brown. Since the Coalition took office, our national debt has increased from 53 to 61 per cent of GDP.’

Outcry in America as Pregnant Women Who Lose Babies Face Murder Charges

Saturday, 25 June 2011 08:56

‘Rennie Gibbs is accused of murder, but the crime she is alleged to have committed does not sound like an ordinary killing. Yet she faces life in prison in Mississippi over the death of her unborn child.

Gibbs became pregnant aged 15, but lost the baby in December 2006 in a stillbirth when she was 36 weeks into the pregnancy. When prosecutors discovered that she had a cocaine habit – though there is no evidence that drug abuse had anything to do with the baby’s death – they charged her with the “depraved-heart murder” of her child, which carries a mandatory life sentence.

Gibbs is the first woman in Mississippi to be charged with murder relating to the loss of her unborn baby. But her case is by no means isolated. Across the US more and more prosecutions are being brought that seek to turn pregnant women into criminals.’

The Greek Crisis Brings Us Even Closer to the Long-Planned European Empire

Saturday, 25 June 2011 09:09

‘A long time ago, when I spent a lot of time at the Council of Ministers in Brussels, my good friend Otto Graf Lambsdorff and I would wearily raise our heads and mutter “Beware the Greeks when they come demanding gifts” when confronted by yet another plea for a subsidy from our Greek colleague. It would be very easy to think that current events in Greece are just a continuation of that same problem.

That would be to misunderstand the grand strategy being pursued in Brussels. It is designed to achieve, without recourse to war, the realization of a dream unfulfilled since the fall of Rome, the first pan-European Empire. Spain, France and Austro Hungary failed in their attempts to build such an Empire and after yet another destructive European war, the founding fathers of the EU swore to achieve through politics what warfare had failed to deliver.’

The Financial Collapse Of Greece: The Canary In The Coal Mine For The Global Economy?

Friday, 24 June 2011 07:50

‘The rest of the world needs to sit up and take notice of what is going on in Greece right now. This is what can happen when you allow government debt to spiral out of control. Once it becomes clear that you can’t pay your debts, a financial collapse can happen very suddenly and you start losing your sovereignty to those that you must turn to for financial help.

So is the financial collapse of Greece the “canary in the coal mine” for the global economy? EU finance ministers have given the Greek government two weeks from Monday to approve another round of brutal austerity measures. If the austerity measures are not approved, Greece will not receive the next bailout installment of 12 billion euros. If that happens, the whole globe better buckle up because it is going to get crazy.’

LulzSec’s First Secret Document Dump Hits Web One Day Early

LulzSec had vowed to expose secret government documents, saying that the dump was set to Friday. As far as “Western” societies are concerned, Friday isn’t for another several hours. Still, that hasn’t stopped LulzSec from dumping the classified documents now.

Yesterday, we reported on LulzSec saying that they will dump classified documents. The contents of the first dump was, up to now, completely unknown. Now, we know exactly what they released.
According to LulzSec’s posting on The Pirate Bay, the document dump consists of secret documents for Arizona’s police department. From the release notes:
We are releasing hundreds of private intelligence bulletins, training manuals, personal email correspondence, names, phone numbers, addresses and passwords belonging to Arizona law enforcement. We are targeting AZDPS specifically because we are against SB1070 and the racial profiling anti-immigrant police state that is Arizona.
The documents classified as “law enforcement sensitive”, “not for public distribution”, and “for official use only” are primarily related to border patrol and counter-terrorism operations and describe the use of informants to infiltrate various gangs, cartels, motorcycle clubs, Nazi groups, and protest movements.
Every week we plan on releasing more classified documents and embarassing personal details of military and law enforcement in an effort not just to reveal their racist and corrupt nature but to purposefully sabotage their efforts to terrorize communities fighting an unjust “war on drugs”.
Hackers of the world are uniting and taking direct action against our common oppressors – the government, corporations, police, and militaries of the world.
See you again real soon! ;D
The file is 446.6 MB, so it’s no small file dump either when it comes to secret material. The question, at this point, becomes, what are the specifics of this content anyway? It is very likely going to require a certain amount of crowdsourcing to figure out for those who are gutsy enough to download the file.
What this release does do, though, is say that when LulzSec says they are going to release something, they can be trusted to do so. On the surface, this does seem quite significant.

Israel Threatens Palestinian Inmates

Friday, 24 June 2011 06:16

‘”I have decided to change Israel’s treatment of terrorists sitting in prison,” Netanyahu said in a speech at an international conference on Thursday.

“We will give them all that they deserve according to international law but nothing beyond that,” he added. The Israeli premier also said Tel Aviv is taking a series of steps to change prisoners’ conditions.’
